The Galápagos Islands, located 600 miles off mainland Ecuador, are one of the world's most distinctive natural environments. This remarkable volcanic archipelago offers exceptional opportunities to observe wildlife and is home to many species found nowhere else on Earth.
With Distant Journeys, our exploration of the Galápagos Islands is centred around a seven-night cruise, undoubtedly one of the best ways to experience these extraordinary islands. Get close to giant tortoises and marine iguanas in their natural habitat. See blue-footed boobies and colourful seabirds sitting against a backdrop of stark lava landscapes, encounter inquisitive sea lions, and with luck, spot a Galápagos penguin.
From secluded bays and coves to terrain shaped by volcanic forces, our cruise allows us to visit up to seven different islands. Each landing reveals unique landscapes and endemic wildlife that together make the Galápagos so special. It is little wonder that this otherworldly archipelago inspired Darwin's theory of evolution.
Our journey also takes us to the Andes Mountains, where we discover the beautifully preserved streets of Quito and the vibrant markets of Otavalo. Standing on the equator, exploring Mindo Cloud Forest and Cotopaxi National Park, and meeting with indigenous Kichwa communities make our time on mainland Ecuador an enriching experience.
Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands captivate and enthral, offering an extraordinary journey that stays with you for life.
